Who runs this site
This site is run by Daniel Nethersole, a resident of Cuxton, as an independent community project. It is not affiliated with Medway Council, any political party, or any candidate. Daniel holds no party membership, and every candidate is offered equal access to the site — the same profile space, the same questions, and the same right of reply.
You can contact us at [email protected].
What we collect
- Support marks. When you mark support for a candidate we store a random identifier (set as a cookie in your browser) and a one-way scrambled (hashed) version of your IP address, used only to prevent duplicate marks. We cannot identify you from this.
- Questions. If you ask the candidates a question we store the name and question you type. The name you give is shown publicly alongside your question if it is approved.
- Candidate access requests. If you request a candidate login we store the name, email address, and message you provide so we can verify and reply to you.
- Voting reminders. If you ask for a reminder we store the email address or mobile number you give, and use it to send exactly two messages: one the evening before polling day and one on polling day morning. It is then deleted along with the rest of the site's data.
We do not collect anything else. There are no analytics, no advertising, and no tracking of any kind on this site.
Cookies
The site sets a session cookie (needed for the site to function securely) and, if you mark support for a candidate, one functional cookie containing a random identifier so your mark is remembered. No third-party cookies are used.
How we use your information
Information is used only to run the features described above: counting support marks, publishing approved questions and answers, and responding to candidate access requests. We do not sell, share, or transfer your information to anyone else, and we do not use it for marketing.
How long we keep it
This site exists for the Cuxton, Halling & Riverside by-election on 23 July 2026. Data collected by the site is deleted within a reasonable period after the election result, once the site is retired.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have rights over your personal data, including the right to ask what we hold about you, to have it corrected, or to have it deleted. To exercise any of these, email [email protected]. If you are unhappy with how we handle your data you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
